Dear Drs. Sinha and Vasudeva, thank you very much for responding to our letter on your published article in Saudi Endodontic Journal 2015;5(3);182-186. I do agree with your thought of using agar diffusion test for conducting the pilot study for evaluating the antimicrobial efficacy of the test irrigants, which you have used in your study. However, due to the various drawbacks of agar diffusion test as I had mentioned in my letter earlier, there are always chances of having a false negative results. Hence, instead of using agar diffusion test, a time kill assay or direct contact method can be used since, it enables in understanding the dynamics and kinetics of medicament action on microbial viability at the appropriate concentration to be chosen for the clinically simulating models.
